2009

2009 was great. I went to new places. Lost friends. Made new ones.
I haven't yet acknowledged the fact that 2009 is going to be over in a few hours. 2009 was such a great year, it kind of seemed like I actually started living and enjoying life to it's fullest in this year. I started 2009 with great optimist views of how it would be and I think that is exactly why I enjoyed it so much. I also kept the resolutions i had set.

That's what I have to do for 2010. Set goals I would like to reach and hope for the best.

One of my resolutions for 2009 was to read more. And I definately did. I used to hate reading. I read The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Pieces, No One Belongs Here More Than You, and Romeo and Juliet. That's probably a little bit for some people. But it really is an accomplishment for me. Another one was to keep a Journal with me. A journal to express myself, to write my heart out, to vent. And i sure did that. I read my journal and i can find happy posts and sad posts. Also, stupid meaningless stuff. I should pat myself on the back for keeping my word ;D

In 2009 I got to go to Philadelphia with the school choir ,went to Chicago for two weeks with my sister, bought a fisheye camera <33 ,Snorkeled and saw awesome fishies, saw family members i hadnt seen in about 8 years.

So 2010 I will welcome you with enthusiasm and embrace all the adventures that you have for me. I wouldnt mind having some more followers in 2010 either. Thankyou to my only 2 followers who read my posts no matter how boring they can be. ahhahaa

2009's Last Sunday

Today was great! I went to Old San Juan, met up with friends. Some who i hadnt seen since May. In fact, i was so excited to see Ashley that i even bought her a Peppermint Mocha at Starbucks hahaha. Plus, i finally got to take a few Fisheye photos ;D
It was the perfect way to spend the last sunday of 2009.

I believe this year has been great and well i'm actually kind of sad its coming to an end but I know 2010 awaits more adventures. 2010 is the perfect opportunity to forget a certain someone. He used to be a really good friend, then suddenly started hanging out with other people and forgot about me. So 2010 is gonna be a fresh new start.

Today, a whole bunch of family came home. The type of family that i barely know. But today was different. Even though i had never spoke to some of them, I actually did this time and played cards and guitar hero with the ones my age. I had a pretty good time. They all left like an hour ago and i'm watching Eagle Eye now with church friends, my sister and a cousin(close one) :)

I'm thankful for:

• The friends i've recently made. The one's i've lost. And the one's i've known my whole life.


• My beautiful sister.


• Mom, Dad, Grandpa and the rest of the family.


• Church and the awesome people i've met there.


• Food. yes people, food is good :)

I have the whole week off! yay!
today i went to school anyway because i had a choir rehearsal. from there i left to my best friends house. we played guitar hero, ate pizza and he showed me some guitar stuff..Then we went to the movies. Like 5 minutes after getting back home i recieved a call from a GREAT friend, i had a huge smile on my face, she's living in Florida now and i miss her way too much. you have no idea.

I just wanted to say that i'm so grateful for everything and everyone in my life right now. but i'll save that for my thanksgiving post ;D

Fall Concert

So my school now has a series of concerts for the choir and school band. The Fall Concert was yesterday, we also sing for christmas and then a Spring Concert.

I just wanted to say that I sang a duet with my best friend Amaris and it went great! Best part is I wasnt as nervous as i've gotten for other stuff. And i want to thank my friends for that. As soon as i stood up front of all those people, i looked at my friends (some i hadnt seen since May) and smiled. I think i've never smiled so much in a concert. Unfortunately, my sister and my mom were late and they didnt get to see me. My dad did though. I'm extremely happy with how everything turned out and at the end of the concert everyone said they loved the song and how me and my friend sang. There is a video of the song and i'll show u guys a link as soon as my friend uploads the video. I also sang 4 more songs with the choir :)

After the concert, I went to Fudruckers with choir, honor society and band buds. I had a great time :D

20!

October was a great month and i have a feeling November will be too (:
of course there's always ups and downs but its all good.

This friday was Report Card Day. i got an A in english. B in the other classes and unfortunately D in math. my math skills suck :/. Yesterday(saturday) I went with a group of the youth from church to a Skate Park. The place has go-karts, pool and paintball too. It was my first time playing paintball and i loved it. I have a bruise in my arm but it was definately worth it! haha. Today was also a good day, i went to church and helped out with the adorable but sometimes annoying kids. After that i ate lunch with friends and came home, studied and and i'm now here.


This month has also been pretty crazy for PR. People without jobs on strike and a huge explosion of a gas refinery the week after the strike. The explosion was pretty scary i didnt hear or feel anything when it happened but thanks to the resourceful facebook i found out about it. The next day i decided to go to school and I saw the all the smoke. it looked bad. firemen worked over there the whole weekend 'till sunday afternoon when all the fire was finally put out. Fortunately, nobody died in the fire and everything was pretty controlled. Honestly, i never thought i'd live to see something like that happen where I live. It was pretty scary to me.


One of the highlights of this month was definately being able to recieve mail. It was a great thankyou letter from Ashley. I had sent her a package a while ago and i recieved a thankyou letter from her. I love how even though we can speak whenever we want by comments or chat its always good to be oldfashioned. I love sending packages and handwritten letters. I used to do that alot with an old friend from San Francisco but we havent written to eachother in a long time thanks to technology.

Next friday I have a choir concert. I have to do a solo and i get nervous just speaking about it D: . But hopefully it all turns out well. Plus i love the song, I actually chose it. Also, a friend asked if i could sing with like 5 people more on thanksgiving day at church, kind of nervous for that one too because i'll be singing with REALLY GOOD singers.

well thats pretty much it.
hopefully, i wont abandon this blog so much. Sometimes I just dont know what to write. I know I barely have followers but I still care and like to blog every now and then :)

Happy Birthday Jasmine

Yesterday was my birthday.
I spent yesterday morning at church where i helped out with the class for the kids and was called up to the altar so the pastor could pray for me. Also my sister let me drive her car. The car was outside of church and she made me move it into the church parking hahah. After church, I went to El Morro at San Juan and spent the afternoon with amazing friends. Including some i hadnt seen in 3 1/2 months. After that i went home and my mom had cake for me so i spent the rest of the night with my family at home.

I got that new Paramore CD i wanted and Demi Lovato's too! I also recieved money, clothing, gift cards, necklace and a picture. But what i most loved was just the presence of my awesome friends there with me and the beautiful words they wrote down or personally told me. I couldnt be any happier right now.

I just saw Across the Universe. I absolutely loved it.
Today school was over by 12pm because of the storm. Turns out tere was no storm at all. Classes are supposed start again tomorrow but i'm not going. No one is. Which means i have a long weekend! no school till tuesday! :D

about an hour ago i got a surprise. My cousin from Arizona just landed in PR.He got a one way ticket over here! Its not just another vacation. He's here to stay :D

Music Update?

Today I went to church and after i spent most of my time watching animations on Youtube. I saw this short 8 minute film that made me cry! Its called Replay and you guys should check it out.
So when I get addicted to songs, the addiction lasts for about 2 weeks. But i have to say that Paris by Friendly Fires has lasted for about a month and a week. Its pretty cool. hahah

September starts on tuesday which means Paramores new cd comes out soon. September 29th to be exact, My birthday is October 4th.. so i can wait 4 days 'till my birthday to get it! haha

Retiro RSVP 2009

It was great! I came back with 42 it itchy insect bites, a broken camera and a great memory to keep. Even though saturday noon wasnt my lucky day i had a great time. On saturday i got all the insect bites, i fell into a big puddle of muddy,stinky water and the camera went down there with me. Which means i have another unlucky camera for the books! But lets not talk about that. I just wanted to say that i had a GREAT time. I cant really explain, its undescribable. especially for me, i'm not good with words.

Retreat soon!! :D

I'm abandoning social/internet life for the weekend. I cant wait to get away from this fun but too distracting world. haha. I'm out to find myself. No interenet, no signal for cellphone.. and its just perfect! Its Youth Month at church so all August the youth has been playing a big role in everything at church. I'm glad to get to share this experience with friends i only see fridays and sundays and this will hopefully make us all even more closer together. I need to film up my fisheye 'cause i'm taking it with me! The place i'm going is up in a mountain, its perfect and peaceful! I cant wait any longer! Tomorrow is picture day at school and after school mom told me she'd take me to the hair salon to shape up 'em bangs:D
Then Friday, Satuday and Sunday i'm out to Morton! (thats the name of the place) haha! i'll tell you guys about it when i come back! :D

School.

10th grade is good so far. This year we're supposed to have a bunch of field trips because we're taking PRican History. I've been resposible with my works this week. But then again, i just started i'm always very responsible the first 2 weeks D:
haha. The school is dumber than ever this year and school adminstration SUCKS.This year my locker is at the bottom but i'll be moved pretty soon 'cause seniors are supposed to be where my locker is haha. Yesterday, i got that perfume i told you guys about and tomorrow is friday, which means we have chapel. I love chapel! :D
Now for electives, i'm not sure if i should stay in choir or go to art. If we travel this year, the choir festival is gonna be in Canada. Don't know what to do! D:

Goodbye Summer 2009!

Tomorrow I start my sophmore year in High School and I'm not so pumped or excited for that! So i wont talk about it and i'm just gonna type down the awesome things i did and bought this summer! :D

Chicago
I went to Chicago with my sister and visited family I hadnt seen since i moved here to Puerto Rico 8 years ago! I enjoyed the city. The famous Bean. and just being with the cousins, aunties and the newest little family members. I was there for a week and a half and I bought the fisheye camera I had been wanting in Urban Outfitters! :D

Now back in PR, i had a great time too! I got to hang with friends, family and i even snorkeled in deep ocean water which i never thought i'd have the guts to do!

My cousins from mom's side visited. The youngest one spent the whole 2 months of summer here, his sister was here for three weeks and the oldest was here for only 5 days because he's a baseball player and he couldnt miss out on all his games. I'm so grateful i got to spend time with them.Even though these are the cousins who come every summer. Also my cousin from California (dads side) came, she spent all July here and she had also gone to chicago by the same time i went!

I also hung with friends,saw movies, birthday parties, pool parties, helped at church summer camp, created this blog, internal tourism, sent 2 birdies to heaven and a lot more..







Summer was 99% perfect.There is only one person I didnt get to see before she moved out of PR but i'm sure i'll get to see her sometime soon.imissyou

This summer didnt have a very good start, so it made me think that this summer would suck, I got over what had happened and it turned out to be the best summer yet.Tomorrow i start school, i get to see people i havent seen in a while and i get to see people i dont want to see.I hope this school year turns out to be a good one.

Getaway..

This past week hasnt been a good one for me.I said goodbye to a cousin i hadnt seen in 4 years and i hope its not too long 'till I see him again.One of my other cousins also left, and now the house is all lonely.It's all back to normal.On top of all that,things here at home havent been all that great.I'm trying to not be so negative, but i must admit its not that easy either.I want some kind of distraction from stuff. I need a getaway! I wish i could just dissapear from reality sometimes. Luckily, I have a retreat coming up soon from August 21-23 a whole weekend. I cant wait for that! :)


btw, Happy August! Summer is coming to an end. But it's been a good one :)

Weekend & Perfume

This Weekend was fun! On saturday night my best friend picked me up and we went to one of my friends Quinceañera.It was really fun and i got home at about 12:40am or something..That next Sunday morning i went to church and i sang a song with a few of the church friends. Everyone loved it and i was impressed because we only rehearsed 2 times! lol. After that mom took me out to lunch and then dropped me off at my friend's from church house.. Everyone that sang, a few more people and I spent the day together in the pool, we played board games, ate and watched tv. I really enjoyed spending the day with church friends.

Just about an hour ago something wierd happened.I was checking my facebook and i recieved an IM from an old friend.We stopped being friends about a year or two ago due to normal high school stuff i've had to deal with.So she told me about a Britney Spears perfume she would always see in my room when she used to stay over all the time.(i cant believe she actually remembered the perfume i used to use)She told me she had a brand new perfume of those and she wanted to give it to me. This might mean nothing to her or to other people but i am really grateful because out of every bad situation something good eventually comes out of it. Of course our friendship didnt end up very good but we've gotten over it and we're not gonna hold on to that bad situation. We have moved on,found different friends and still talk every once in a while. She's leaving school this year but she told me she'll give me the perfume when she picks up her little brother at school ;)

Its fun how a simple IM and perfume can make me see things in a different way :)



btw, i've decided to change the blog name to Brand New Eyes not because of Paramore's new cd coming in September but because lately i've been seeing things differently. I have Brand New Eyes. Seeing big stuff and dreams out of tiny, simple stuff. I'm growing up and i'm maturing more every day.

Perks

So I recently finished reading Stephen Chbosky's book "The Perks of Being a Wallflower". Out of the tiny amount of books i have actually read i have to say its my favorite and i thank Ashley for telling me about it. I'm not much of a reader but i have read a few books and i must say this is the best so far.I'm looking forward to reading more books soon. I love any book like this one and Go Ask Alice. Suggestions are welcome! :D

Happy Birthday Amy!

This weekend i stayed over at Isabela which for me is really boring. I stayed with my uncle from thursday-sunday. I went to the beach on friday and thats the only fun thing i got to do. All i did over there was watch tv most of the time and visit family -_-




Today's my sisters 20th bday. I still have nothing for her. But my sister's best guy friend is picking me up in a few hours and we're getting a whole bunch of birthday balloons! We were supposed to get her something else (which i wont say cause i never know if she'll read this) but its arriving like in 2 weeks so balloons will have to do it for now. haha..



Tomorrow or should i say later today i'm going to Cueva Ventana so i guess i'll post pictures some other day. I love it there! its amazing. Then i think i'm going to some pool and then just go home.. I have nothing too interesting to say today. Sorry for that, i just felt like blogging D:

Movies, Family and Babypictures :D

So today i went to beach in the morning and in the afternoon i headed to the movies with a few friends and saw Transformers 2 although two ppl didnt like it, i think it was great! it was long but good :D

Yesterday one of my cousins from Colorado left PR..I know i'll see her in a year but it always makes me sad..on the bright side, her little brother is still here and her older brother is coming soon. i havent seen him in about 4 years.. Also on monday one of my cousins from california from my dads side is coming.. i love to see them come but hate to see them leave.i'm always a crybaby when it comes to goodbyes..It sucks to have ALL of your 1st cousins far away! its never the same with only 2nd cousins you barely know or talk to. =/

Lately i've been seeing lots of home videos and pictures of when i was little..Living in California were the best times ever..The family was so close and we would always have huge family reunions on sundays and every summer we would come to PR and be with the other part of the family..It makes me wanna go through a time machine and just stay in that time were everyone was so happy! But that's life and i got no time to be all sad and stuff.. i'll leave you with 2 baby pictures :D

Weekend. :o #2

So i just got back from the movies.. i saw My Sisters Keeper. i seriously cried like a baby! its a great movie and those producers from The Notebook never fail to make me cry. its a great movie so if u havent seen it i strongly recommend! today i went to the beach for a while with my mom and cousin. it was good and i'm really tanned..then i was at home for a while just online and doing some chores, which reminds me i still have to unpack my luggage from Chicago D: after being at home a while. my sister,cousin mom and i went to see the movie and after we ate at Hard Rock Cafe and just walked around old sj..i had tons of fun and was served some sprite in a cup for alcoholic beverages! hahaha

Yesterday(friday) i went to my church's summer camp for kids and helped out..it was the last day of camp. it was 2 weeks but i only went 3 days due to my recent trip to Chicago! haha.. when it was over my good friend passed by my church to see me cause she has summer camp right by it.We had a fun little adventure. We found two dead birs. looks like they were poisoned or something cause they were just laying in the street one beside another. they werent squished and werent bleeding or anything.We named them Michael and Jackson, put them together in a cup from Subway and inside a white box we found in the trash. RIP they went to birdie heaven lol..after that little adventure.i went to a friends pool and was there till 7 then went to someone elses house and "watched" Sisterhood of Traveling Pants 2. i was sleeping for most of the movie.

thats pretty much wat i did on the weekend. tomorrow i'm going to church early morning then probably gonna go home and play Starfox with my little cuz, its his favorite game. then do nothing.

i guess i'm not doing as bad as i thought i would blogging. its pretty fun! :D

blog post #1 . hey guys!

I'm Jasmine and i'm new to blogging. i got convinced into making a blog so here i am.
So i just found out a few hours ago that Michael Jackson has died! i'ts sad and i still cant believe it! Also, Farrah Fawcett even though i barely new who she was i saw this little special they made at nbc about her. Its events like these that always makes me think of how unexpected turns life can make, I mean, who would ever thought that "The King of Pop" would've died! he was perfectly fine! So the whole point is appreciate everyone u have and all the people you love cause with life you never know when you (or a loved one) can come to the end of the road. And i'm saying this to myself to cause i'm not always the most happy and positive person! But i'm trying to make the best out of what i've been through this year and i'm doing great! I got over stupid stuff i was being sad about, I went to Philly with my school choir, just got back from Chicago visiting family i had'nt seen in 8yrs, i'm gonna play the bass at church and i even took the picture i wanted with my senior crush before he left school for good! hahaha :)

If u didnt know i am a big Paramore fan and i just found out the new album comes out on September 29th named Brand New Eyes! So i'm really excited for that.

I doubt many people will read this but i actually got inspired for a moment there! haha

i've been discovering nice music lately so listening to it always inspires me. This week its mostly anything from A Fine Frenzy, Sara Bareilles and my favorite song right now is Sweet Sweet Sound by Sarah Reeves. I hope i can keep a steady blog and post at LEAST once a week or so.
